SST designs and manufactures head protection for pitchers using state of the art, lightweight composites. Pitchers are most exposed to head injuries on the same side of the head as their throwing arm due to mechanics, delivery momentum and the natural reaction of the human body when facing a line drive from a batted ball. We are strongly against prototypical helmet use on the mound due to numerous physical and mental factors. That is why we created a low profile guard to protect only the side of the head that is most prone to severe injury.
SST Guards weigh a little more than 1 Ounce, compared to a standard baseball hat that can usually weigh between 3 and 4 Ounces. They are designed to be worn inside the hat, unnoticeable in appearance and comfortable. Our main objective is to help prevent skull fracture. Severe complications can occur as a result of skull fracture, including brain bleed. The SST Head Protection For Pitchers does not provide a guarantee against concussions. No helmet ever made can make that claim.

“Hello! I just wanted to write and let you know that my 12yo son was hit in the head while pitching today, and thanks to his head protectors, he was not injured. He said he felt stunned when the ball hit him, but he didn’t feel any pain. He felt like he could just hop back on the mound and keep pitching. The umpire stopped the game and the manager came out and they checked on him for a couple of minutes and kept asking if he was okay. He took off his hat and showed them his head protectors. They were so happy he was wearing them. After the inning, all of his teammates wanted to see the head protectors.
